Las Vegas: Tule Springs Ranch
Tule springs Ranch is an area of Floyd Lamb State Park, in hfdash Las Vegas. When I first started going to Tulle Springs as a kid, it felt like it was hourssss away. In reality, it’s not that far out of the main part of town. There’s an awesome walking area in the desert part of the ranch, and a park with a lake that is a home for many peacocks, bunnies, ducks, and geese.
This is a total #latepost, because these photos were taken in April. I love the desert in the Springtime, because everything is in bloom. You might not think of the desert as a very floral area, but the pops of color on cacti and bushes transform the mostly brown landscape that’s there the rest of the year.

This guy reminds me of lavender cotton, but I don’t think that’s what it is. Any ideas??
To walk the desert tail, through the park, and to the lake is about 1.25 miles, so it’s totally doable for a leisurely walk or bike ride.
In the park, you’ll find about half a dozen peacocks, and if you’re lucky, they’ll flirt with you and fan their tails. I was surprised at how dark they are from the back, quite the contrast from their vibrant fronts.
