Starbucks Inspired S’Mores Bars
*Update: this blog post was written last summer, and I never got around to posting it. Starbucks has decided not to bring back the S’Mores Bars, so now seems like a good as time as any to make them!
I love Starbucks. I spend an exorbitant about of money there, and one of the things that I frequently throw money at is their S’Mores bars. THEY’RE SO GOOD. I decided to recreate them in my own kitchen where they are significantly cheaper, and also… I get to play with FIRE. Total bonus.
Start with graham crackers in a ziplock bag. Crush them with a potato masher, rolling pin, or another item that can be used for smashing. (Fists, although capable of smashing, are not recommended.)
Put the crushed graham crackers into a glass pan, and then pour the melted butter into the graham crackers.
Mix the butter into the graham crackers, and press it down into the bottom of the pan until it creates a crust.
Next, melt the chocolate on a double burner on the stove, or temper it in the microwave. (To temper chocolate, cook it in 30 second intervals, stirring in between each interval, until the chocolate is melted.)
Pour the chocolate over the top of the graham cracker crust, and spread it in an even layer.
Put the pan with the graham cracker crust and chocolate in the fridge for about 30 minutes or so, just enough time to let the layers settle and solidify. Pull it out of the fridge, and layer the marshmallows on top of the chocolate.
Now the fun part!!! Grab your culinary torch, and toast the marshmallows. Toast them to your liking. (I like intentionally setting my marshmallows on fire…)
Boom. There ya go. Enjoy this summer treat while the season lasts!
